root canal

Inside each of your teeth is a bundle of nerves and blood vessels called the pulp. The pulp forms the “living” part of your tooth and is responsible for nourishing your teeth when they are growing.

Sometimes the pulp can be placed at risk from injury to the tooth or decay and it can become inflamed or infected. The infection can lead to complications such as an abscess or inflammation, causing you pain and potentially resulting in the loss of your tooth.

The treatment for an inflamed or infected pulp is a root canal. We remove the pulp, clean the inside of your tooth, and then seal the tooth to prevent further infection. After the root canal there is no pain but it is possible you may need a crown to strengthen the tooth.
